Please find the following Pynk guide as general assistance for billing control for International Roaming

Pynk has no control of IDD Roaming charges and the charges can be varied from Country, Network used within that Country, varying international exchange rates of the AUD and services used. Pynk charges for International Roaming are based on the wholesale rate charged to Pynk with a % mark up to all customers.

International Roaming can be a extremely expensive exercise. By following a few general rules while Roaming, $100s even $1000s can be saved.

  1. Before you leave Australia, Divert All Your Calls to a set paging service. This will Guarantee you a set price for any calls that you receive. "You can decide who you call back and who you don't". You will not be billed for anybody that tries to call you. You will only get billed for the initial paging message sent. (Not applicable or available to all Countries)

  2. Try and have your contacts communicate with you via SMS as much as possible, "You do not get charged for receiving a SMS message in most Countries" (Note: Some countries do charge for incoming SMS messages)

  3. Communicate via SMS when overseas with your contacts at home. Although it is still based as a premium service, "It is much cheaper than any phone calls that you can make or receive."

  4. Try and take a 2nd Phone with you while you travel. Buy a local prepaid Sim Card with their major S.P. in the country of Origin. They should have agreements with IDD rates at discounted rates. You can also receive calls at no charge in most Countries. "Shop Around"

  5. Do not use your Pynk service to call general Vodafone services, (1411, etc) "While overseas these are still a Premium service"

  6. Use Call back services that get billed to your home phone. These are usually available from major Landline Phone suppliers in Australia. "To be called from Landline Phone while overseas"

  7. Set your Roaming to a Vodafone Preferred network while overseas. Although no guarantee can be given on price, our assumption is that it is much cheaper. "Do not let your phone have Free Roam." Link of Vodafone Recommended Roaming Networks coming soon.

  8. If you have available to you any wireless or internet services. Try to communicate via VoIP (From 2c per min) or chat or talk for free on MSN, Skype or Yahoo chat services. A computer based headset will cost $20 to $100 at any computer reseller.

  9. Most calls made to Countries on local Sim Card services made from within Australia have a set charge rate. However they are subject to change. Click Here for Details.

If you use your Pynk service while overseas for making/receiving calls:

  1. If someone calls You from Australia, You will be charge a Premium Rate for answering that call. The personal calling you will only be charged standard call rates for calling you.

  2. If you call Australia from overseas you will be charged a Premium Rate for making that call.

  3. If you call a local area while overseas, you could be charged up to 2 x Premium rate for making that call. (1 x Premium rate back to Australia and 1 x Premium rate to where you are.)

  4. If you call another Country while in a separate Country outside Australia, you could be charged up to 2 x Premium rate for making that call. (1 x Premium rate back to Australia and 1 x Premium rate to the different Country.)

  5. If you call Voicemail or other Vodafone services while overseas, you will be charged Premium rate for that call.

Examples of my personal Billing from Optus Network while Roaming (Corporate Account):

  1. 2 x 20 min calls to Qantas for changes to flight after missing a flight in Bali. "$500 for total 40 min call."

  2. 4 Days roaming in Hong Kong and China. $1500, Most of the cost was because office was calling me throughout the day.

  3. 1 week in Hong Kong and China. $2500. Most of the cost was because office and girlfriend was calling me throughout the day.

  4. 1 week in Manila $1500. Most of the cost was because office was calling me and I was calling the office.

  5. Note: I now reside in Manila full time and run Call Centre for Pynk Sales. I have been using the above advice for myself and currently spending less then $25 per week on International calls. I communicate with Australia various times throughout the day.
